38TH Farmers Day Celebration


Farmers' Day celebrations in Ghana are organised every year in December to reward and recommend our hardworking farmers thus into livestock farming, crop cultivation, forestry, fishing and many other more. Farmers' Day celebrations in Ghana are organised in all the districts, Municipal and Metropolitan assemblies. The 38th National edition of the National Farmers' Day was launched today, Friday, 16th of September, 2022 at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture Conference room. This year's celebration will be held in the Eastern Region of Ghana and would as usual be marked with National Agricultural Fair from Tuesday, 29th November 2022 to Friday 2nd December, 2022. The last day of the National Agricultural Fair which marks the first Friday of December would be celebrated with a Grand Durbar and Awards Ceremony where Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo the president of Republic of Ghana would confer National honours on best performing farmers.

The theme for the 38th National Farmers' Day celebration- Accelerating Agricultural Development Through Value Addition- is instructive and an eye opener in the wake of prevailing global challenges. This is important concept of value addition in agriculture especially fisheries and aquaculture present a very good avenue for employment creation, revenue generation, foreign exchange earnings and others Farmers Day celebrations in Mpohor District was organised in a grand style since may people within the region and the district participated this colourful and memorable event. The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ignatius Asaah Mensah, thanked all farmers and appreciated their plethora contributions in terms of food productions and livestock rearing. He admonished farmers of the government support and the availability of modern equipments at the district assembly to promote commercial farming.

The Member of Parliament, Mr. John Abam Kobina Saanie, was glad and appreciated farmers for their immeasurable food productions and contributions towards their motherland. He assured farmers of quarterly supply of oil palm seedlings and cocoa seedlings to the farmers to ease them of their burden in securing agricultural seedlings. In all about 14 farmers were rewarded, some receiving tricyle , deep freezers , agricultural inputs like cutlasses ,Wellington boots and many other items.
